Thank you ahead of time for reading this.

JSun and Rogan

This is going out to all my friends and family on my address book, tribe.net and myspace.com.

This year has been a great one for my dog Rogan and I, living in Portland, OR. Unfortunately earlier in the year, Rogan suffered a torn ACL to his right hind knee. Not having the money to get the expensive surgery on his knee right away, I made the hard choice of waiting and seeing how he would recover from it. He was doing really wonderfully until Thanksgiving of last year. While up at a friend’s house in Welches, OR he was outside while we were eating dinner and tore the ACL in the opposite leg. He now has bi-lateral ACL tears in his knees.

Rogan is a very healthy, energetic and strong 9-year old dog. We are having a very hard time with him not being able to live the active and adventurous lifestyle he and I are accustomed to. As is dad, I am suffering from watching him in pain, when I am unable to provide him with the surgery he needs. He is getting around on his two bad knees pretty well and is showing how strong willed and physically able he is. He will be able to live a very happy and active life with the surgery. His knees will work better than when he had no injury.

I am writing this letter to everyone I know and the surrounding community for help in this dire time for him. I am unable to cover the large cost of this surgery and am barely able to feed myself due to being laid off from my job back in October.

The surgery is a cost of $3500 and will cover everything that will be needed to make a full recovery in only 6 weeks. This is the best and only surgery that the doctors offer to a dog his size and it has the shortest recovery period. Once his knees are fixed, he will be better than before and able to go about his life like he wants too -- spending most of his time with me enjoying the magical outdoors Oregon has to offer, while running in the park up the road from our home in the city, with his friends.

I am asking all of my family and friends in every corner of my world for help in this time of need. If everyone I know kindly donated $20 to his cause, he would have the surgery, no problem. This is going out to well over 300 people in the Internet world, that I know. That would cover all and more. Anything over the cost of his surgery will be donated to a local animal shelter for another dog whose owner cannot afford surgery too.

We are asking from the bottom of our hearts to please help in this situation. This would allow him to live the rest of his years with out pain and loving the active life that he is so used to having.

Please! Look into your hearts and find the time to read this email and post.

Here is the information that is need to donate:

Sincerely yours,

Rogan and Jason

Our chow mix tore her acl when she was 11 (she is now 17). When it first happened I thought that she had sprained her knee chasing a rabbit. I waited a month before I took her in to the vet. Fortunately he is an expert on knees. Unfortunately he has retired. It was a $600 surgery that we couldn't afford at the time. He told me that if I waited tha she would eventually tear the other knee because of over compensating for the now injured knee. I waited a day and whipped out the credit card. She was walking the day after the surgery. Now, at 17, she can still get around though she limps and leans to that side. I guess that I would too if I were her.

I am suprised that it is so expensive now. Perhaps having a rural vet at the time was a real blessing. You might want to see what other vets in the area would charge for the surgery. Might mean an office visit but it could save you some big bucks.

I have worked with several dogs with the same issue and recommend first alternative therapy as that can be less expensive and more effective. Please look into acupuncture, water therapy and you can use TRAUMEEL for the pain. It is an excellent homeopathic remedy. You can google it and check it out for yourself. Please look into finding a DVM that is also a holistic practitioner. This might really be an alternative for you that will be way less expensive. ***I will also say I make these recommendations not knowing your dogs situation as I have not seen him. Every situation is different but if you have not looked into alternative therapy this could be a good path for you to take. Hope this helps. Peace and Light, Gabriela
