  • although i believe that killing an animal is wrong i find it hard to hate this man. people tend to forget what art truly is. art knows no boundaries and can be expressed upon any median. artists display things to express their own thoughts, feelings and emotions and people then experience that art and feel their own thoughts feeling and emotions. so the fact that one man can kill one dog and cause so much hysteria around the world from mostly people who have never even seen it just justifies that it is art. just because art stimulates negative emotions doesn't make it bad art. it stimulates multitudes of emotions world wide and for that i think this man should be applauded for his art. cruel art can still be beautiful. and lets be honest. most of you wouldn't have cared less if he had done it to a squirrel because squirrels hold no value to people but because in our culture we love dogs as pets another man who has different values for specific kinds of animals because he grew up in a different culture is now a bad person? i think thats garbage. i agree with you all for caring about dogs but i think you should stop wasting your time trying to save south american dogs being killed by an absolutely genius artist and maybe worry about the people starving in your home town, or the people starving all around the world. or maybe the men living nearby you doing worse things to their wives than what that artist did to the dog he bought. that dog was probably going to die from starvation anyways, this man did this dog a favor by allowing it to be part of such an influential art exhibit.
    • yeah whatever.

First off, you put up an ALT type of profile b/c obviously you are fearful of people's reactions. I would call you a sock puppet.

This man is not a genius - if he was a TRUE artist with real talent then he wouldn't need drama to get a reputation.

I WOULD care if it was a squirrel or any living being so your point is pointless.

If and when I do meet this man, if he is real, I'd like to do the exhibit with him and you starving - then I would call that REAL art.
      • Right. Iooks like faceless "dave" joined Tribe today JUST to speak on behalf of the ethics of questionable artists. Honestly the only way I can even see this person finding his way to Tribe and this tribe in one day is if he was searching for that artist and looking for what is being said about him. How else would he come straight to this thread???

Give it up, "dave." If you want to earn credibility, you have to give yourself an identity first.

Now, "dave," since you have joined the Dog Rescue Tribe, you must be passionate about animals and saving them. Would you care to share more about your passion for dogs?
        • first of all i have no idea what an ALT profile but a dont waste enough time on this website. although i do waste some of my time. and yes i did find this in search of this artist but i was only in search of more of his art cuz this man is obviously a geneous. but the fact that i dont have a pic on my frofile or the dynamics of my profile have doesn't make what i said less credible. and yes i do love dogs but the fact is, is that art has been much more influential on mankind as dog and has been around much longer and will be around after dogs. but i will admit, me coming to this thread to tell you guys off is mildly immature. so with that farewell. maybe you guys will take something from what i said and start paying attention to real problems on this earth and learn to recognize art.

P.S. to the person who wants to starve me. you cant defend the life of a dog and then threaten the life of two other people. you obviously are not intelligent by any means and are a complete waste of oxygen.
          • " the fact that i dont have a pic on my frofile or the dynamics of my profile have doesn't make what i said less credible."

Actually, it does and the lack of any network around you does too.
            • Yes - it does make you less credible - especially when you cannot spell or have a point.

" ...P.S. to the person who wants to starve me. you cant defend the life of a dog and then threaten the life of two other people. you obviously are not intelligent by any means and are a complete waste of oxygen. "

You help make my case even more so.
Sure I can. I still want to starve you - you're an asshat.

              • Sorry for my absence, folks. My computer has been 'in the shop' since 5/26 (-one day before "Dave" showed up). I'm thinking I should go ahead and delete all posts from 5/27 on down. Is this agreeable? (I plan on doing it anyway, but I wanted to try to give fair warning that it would be done. )
                • Hi - sorry about your computer flunking out on ya.

You can delete if you want, either way I don't mind.

...then again, maybe it's an important reminder that we have a cause to fight for animals...welfare...and a
reminder that there are jerks, with no sensitivity out there such as him.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
I don't have a problem with the comments being kept. I think it is a good reminder that not everyone out there loves fuzzy puppies and sees values life the same way.

If Jenn's okay with it staying, then I'm okay with it staying.

                    :)
                    • Yes, I concur. Leave it.

                      - On a side note: yesterday I met this older guy with a chiauhua mix at the dog park who was talking about my pitbull, he was pleasant... BUT he kept saying I'm not into abusing animals - and finally it dawned on me and I said, well yeah, who is ? And he said, lots of people. And whilst I know this is true, I forget. I tend to think that everyone is on the same page as me / us ... he then went on to say that if his dog had some kind of serious problem that cost like $2,000 - he wouldn't pay it, he'd put the dog to sleep b/c it's only an animal. I sighed...He was not a poor man, looked like he had some wealth and years on him. There was no way I was going to change him. I said that I thought that was sad, to love something that is so unconditionally loving and yet put a limit on your love back. I told him that I have close to $20,000 in to my Boxer in his vet bills, special foods etc...he smiled, but didn't get it.
                      • I invested over $3500 in the last year of my cat's life keeping her systems doing what they needed to do. This included flushing her body twice a week with IV fluids and giving her daily Chinese herbs. There were a couple of emergency visits, but nothing that on its own cost more than a couple of $100, but the little things add up. And looking back, I wouldn't take back 1 penny of it. The joy of having her for the last year, sunbathing next to my computer as I worked, snuggling in bed with me, watching her nuzzle my dog...all worth every cent!

                        :)
                      • On New Years eve I lost my foster dog. He got sick from one day to the next and I finally ran him into the emergency vet. The tests to find out what was going on cost several hundred dollars and I had to call my folks for a loan. They immediately said yes, they know how much my dogs mean to me and I've always repaid them quickly, but my dad asked one of my sisters why I was spending so much money on the dog who ultimately died. What he didn't know was that I'd already spent almost five thousand on that dog, though they do know I've spent over five thousand on one of my other dogs.

Several weeks ago, I went over to visit my parents and one of their chihuahuas was sick. My sisters told me she had been sick for a few days. I saw her barf twice and told them she had to get to the vet, now. Dad was squeamish, he lost the last two dogs who went to the emergency vet, so I said I'd take her. Her overnight at the first vet ran $600 and the emergency operation at the second vet cost a couple of thousand more. Dad paid it without hesitation or complaint. He then told my mom he was going to have to have her order a credit card for him to keep, in case of emergency.

I was fourteen before I'd ever seen my dad cry, when he learned his little brother had been murdered by his son. The second time was when my little brother died in a auto accident eight years later. He cried again at my niece's funeral five years after that. Meanwhile I've seen him cry over four dogs and when mom said she wasn't going to let the chihuahuas sleep in her bed anymore because they kept waking her up, dad started to sleep with them in the spare bedroom. These are the same people who raised us saying, "Dogs are dogs" and refusing to allow them in the house. My sisters and I sit around watching them now and just shake our heads.
